Afrotech is one of the largest and fastest growing black tech conferences in the United States.  Started by Blavity, a technology and media company aimed at black millennials, it has grown from 600 people its first year to over two thousand already planning to attend this year.

Described on their website as  ” a conference where the founders and employees of some of the fastest-growing tech startups will present the tactics & strategies they use to grow their products and businesses”, Afrotech is that and so much more.

With co -sponsorship from big names such as Facebook, Google, Pinterest, Oculus, Lyft, Godaddy, and Snap Inc, Afrotech will host over 32 speakers and 15 different workshops from some of the biggest names and rising stars in the black community’s tech scene from across the country.

Names like Chamillionaire (CEO, Musician & Angel Investor), Ben Silbermann (CEO of Pinterest) Jewel Burks (Team Lead for Visual Search, Amazon) and Nancy Douyon (Global Growth User Experience Lead at Uber ) will all be in attendance for the two days filled with panels and exciting  showcases.

There will also be a startup competition that will bring some of the world’s top black early stage startups together to compete for the AfroTech Cup, a cash prize, and the attention of media and investors. Participation is entirely free and open to all Afrotech startup attendees.

We would highly recommend attending this conference.  No matter if you’re just getting started in tech, looking to just build connections, or already  have an established brand,  this is one of those events you really don’t want to miss out on.
