Michael Brown has a GPA of 4.68 and is a member of LamarHigh School’s varsity Debate Team, Young Democrats, 100 Black Men of Houston, Key Club just to name a few organizations. But he says what motivated him the most was seeing his mother, Berthinia, graduate from community college.

“When I was in elementary school, I saw my mom graduate from community college and that just meant a lot to me,” Brown told KHOU11.

Now, the Houston teen has been accepted to all the universities he applied to and has offered full ride scholarships, to all 20 of them. Among the universities that offered Brown full scholarships are Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and his dream school, Stanford.

Brown learned of his acceptance into all these universities back in December, but it was not until a video showing his reaction when he learned he got into Stanford went viral that this was brought to the attention of the media. Although he has not decided which lucky school will have him as a student, Brown knows that he wants to study political science.

“Politics is the route to making changes on a bigger scale and working with people in the community,” Brown said. He also added that he wants his accomplishments to be a source of encouragement to other kids.  “Be helpful. Dream big. Don’t be afraid. Be proud of your family, love yourself, love your community and then share your story. Inspire other people to really reach for the stars and achieve their dreams.” he added.

On top of all the full rides to each school he has been offered, Brown will has also earned $260,000 in outside scholarships.

Berthinia knew Michael was a special baby from the beginning. “Michael is my rainbow baby,” she said. “I lost three babies before I had Michael. So, I just wanted to be the best mother that I could be to him. I wanted to make sure that he had stability.”
