We have been relying on a list by 24-7 Wall Street to come up with our list of the 5 worst

cities in America for Blacks. And believe it or not, out of the 15 cities that were listed by the publication, none

of them were in the South. So we had to do further digging in order to come up with today's list

These cities are not based solely on economic well-being, but other metrics like health

and well-being were also a factor. Of course you might agree or disagree with this list, so we would love to hear from you

At number 5 Oklahoma City Oklahoma Oklahoma City is Oklahoma state capital city The city is the 11th largest city in the South and blacks make up 15 of the population The median income for the black

population is $31,000. There is one list where Oklahoma City came in at number one and that is

the list of 50 unhealthiest cities in America. According to the MindBody Index, residents of

Number 4. Orlando, Florida. Orlando, Florida has a population of approximately 286,000 residents, out of which 25% are black

The black population has a median household income of $32,000, while the white residents

earn $56,000 annually. 37% of black households in Orlando earn less than $10,000 a year. Surprisingly, Orlando has one of

the highest home ownership rates for blacks in the country at 47%. The average home ownership rate

for all other races in the city is 64%. However, the Orlando area is highly dependent on tourism

which often translates to lower wages and slow wage growth. The city is poorly designed and is

But the racial wealth disparity found in New Orleans has landed it at the number three slot

But the black population has a median household income of only $25,000 annually

In fact, the median household income for Blacks in New Orleans has seen a decrease of 3% in recent years

After Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans' Black population decreased by approximately 7% while the population for other races like white and Latinos have actually gone up

There are six times as many African-American households living in poverty than white households and the unemployment rate for blacks is triple that of whites

Jackson is Mississippi's capital city and the state's biggest city. Out of all the cities we looked at, Jackson has the highest Black population at 79%

Mississippi in general has one of the highest employment gaps between Blacks and whites and

that is reflected in Jackson as well, with Black unemployment over 2.0 times that of whites

The poverty rate for African Americans in Jackson is more than triple the rate for whites

And the wage gap between blacks and whites actually rose from $6 an hour to $8 an hour
