Alright fellas the time is here again.

You know that time when it’s starting to get cold as hell outside.

That time between Fall and Spring when the nights are long and you don’t want to watch Netflix alone.

That time when the holiday’s are around the corner and  you don’t want to hear Aunt Trina ask for the millionth time when are you going to settle down.

That’s Right, It’s Cuffin Season. Not Cuffing season but * Cuffin Season.

  • Cuffin season, that precious time of the year when you normally promiscuous and independent individuals decide to find someone and settle down.

Let’s face it, by now,  most of us have heard about the term Cuffin Season. Whether it’s from artist such as Fabolous (“summer [girls] turning into winter wifeys” in his song “Cuffing Season”) or the countless memes on Instagram – #cuffingseason .  The cuffing season is nothing new in 2017.

The term, which probably the vast majority of think of as a big joke, turns out to be a phenomena the science community has known about for a long time.

Dr. Scott Carroll, a physician and psychiatrist in Albuquerque, N.M., told Medical Daily, “Psychologically, we are also primed to seek mates in the winter. We also associate the winter holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) with family and partners, so we feel particularly lonely, then, on top of our evolutionary drive to seek connection in the winter.”

The dating app Hinge recently polled 1,000 of its active users, and asked at which months they are most interested in finding a casual hookup, a date, or a relationship. They found that men are 15 percent more likely to be looking for a relationship in the winter than any other season, while women are 5 percent more interested in something more committed during those months.

So now that we know there is actually some truth to the term Cuffin Season.  I wanted to give you my reason why you might want to cuff you and black woman and consider keeping her long after.

Black Don’t Crack

Melanin, the pigment that gives your skin and hair its color, affects aging. The higher you fall on the Fitzpatrick scale, which categorizes skin tones according to numbers 1 (for very fair and prone to sunburns) to 6 (for very dark skin that rarely burns), the more melanin your skin contains. Dr. Liotta explains the anti-aging protection of melanin this way: “Melanin confers UV protection.” While it doesn’t mean that people with melanin-rich skin don’t need to wear sunscreen, “just having that melanin is like having SPF 13 or higher all the time.” – according to the thecut.com

Black Women are Funny

So far in 2017, Girls Trip, a movie staring Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish, is the only comedy to gross over a 100 million dollars that is not a cartoon.  And if you  have watched the movie, you know how funny black women can be.

Black Women are Athletic

For the second year in a row, it looks like Serena Williams will be the highest paid female athlete in the world. With 86% winning average and 23 Grand Slam titles, in 2016 she earned an estimated  28.9 million dollars.  In the 2016 Olympics, Black Women earned gold medals in 15 events. If they had been a nation, they would have been in sixth place. This despite being a population of only about 19.6 million, they would be only the 67th most populous nation in the world, according to the Huffington Post
